Property Description
Spanning six private acres beneath a canopy of mature hardwoods, 151 Hickory Pointe Drive is a remarkable estate on Athens' Eastside. Built in 1996 as the beloved home and creative retreat of acclaimed Georgia author Terry Kay and his wife, the property was thoughtfully designed to complement its natural setting. A winding drive leads to the home, where large windows and four inviting porches capture peaceful woodland views. The main level features a formal dining room, an open great room with fireplace, kitchen and breakfast area, and a spacious primary suite with private deck access overlooking the saltwater pool and expansive patio. An office or guest bedroom, half bath, mudroom, and laundry room complete the main floor. Upstairs, two library spaces with built-in bookshelves, a central loft, and two private bedroom suites with full baths provide flexible living space. An unfinished basement offers abundant storage. Conveniently located near Athens' Eastside shopping, dining, parks, the University of Georgia Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Downtown Athens, and Wire Park, this distinctive estate combines privacy, character, and history in an exceptional setting.
